Brasília – One of the ways to resolve conflicts between health plans and their users is when they take their cases to court. This is the so-called judicialization of health. However, 78% of Brazilians do not know what the term means, according to the X-Ray of Supplementary Health in Brazil, compiled by the Institute for Social, Political and Economic Research (Ipespe) in conjunction with FGV Justiça.

According to the minister of the National High Court of Brazil (STJ) Antonio Saldanha Palheiro, who is coordinator of the health research line at FGV Justiça, the volume of cases against health plans is one of the reasons that leads to higher monthly fees.
