Brasília – The Ministry of Health has selected 501 specialist doctors to work across Brazil through the Agora Tem Especialistas program. These professionals will serve in 212 municipalities across all 26 states and the Federal District in areas with shortages of specialists.

Sixty-seven percent of the selected doctors will reinforce services in interior regions, covering specialties such as general surgery, gynecology, anesthesiology, and otolaryngology. This measure aims to reduce travel distances to care centers and improve access to specialized treatment.

The effort prioritizes remote and vulnerable regions, including the Amazon and border areas. In the first phase, 25.7% will serve high-vulnerability communities, 20% in the Amazon Legal region, and 9% in frontier areas. The Northeast received the largest allocation with 260 doctors (51%), followed by the Southeast (125), North (66), South (26), and Center-West (24).

All selected doctors began their service in September and will receive up to BRL 20,000 in training scholarships, depending on the vulnerability of their placement. These specialists will be integrated across 258 hospitals and healthcare facilities, supported by 16 intensive mentorship and training courses, delivered by professionals from Ebserh and Proadi-SUS institutions.
