Brasília – Stefan Scheidl, global head of Medical Affairs in Ophthalmology at Roche, highlighted in an interview with Futuro da Saúde that the future of ophthalmology will move toward a personalized and integrated model of care.

He emphasized that advances in drug durability, such as the case of faricimab, could extend treatment intervals to up to four months, reducing the burden on patients and improving adherence. Scheidl also pointed to the use of artificial intelligence in accelerating clinical decision-making, Brazil’s relevance in ophthalmology clinical research due to its genetic and ethnic diversity, and the potential of bispecific molecules and combination therapies.
