Brasília – Developing new medicines today is more expensive and challenging than in previous decades, according to Sebastian Guth, global head of operations at Bayer’s pharmaceutical division. He explained that the “easier” drugs were developed long ago, and science is now pushing boundaries to create more complex options.
Guth highlighted that artificial intelligence (AI) may play a decisive role in accelerating drug development and even reducing costs. In an exclusive interview with O Globo, he discussed the challenges of research, expectations regarding Parkinson’s treatments, and how Brazil could benefit from ongoing studies of innovative drugs and therapies.
