Brasília – The Ministry of Health has announced that the SUS will now ensure access to mammography for women aged 40 to 49, even without symptoms, and expand active screening up to 74 years.
The change targets earlier detection of breast cancer. Previously, mammography access in the public system was more restricted for women under 50.
In addition, the preventive screening interval of every two years will now apply up to 74 years — extending the previous upper limit of 69.
