Brasília – The Instituto Nacional de Câncer (INCA) has attributed the recent uptick in recorded cancer cases in Brazil to enhanced data‐capture and registry coverage rather than a true rise in disease incidence.
INCA officials clarified that the expansion of population‐based cancer registries and improved reporting mechanisms—particularly in historically under-covered regions—have contributed to higher case numbers being logged. They stressed that while awareness of increasing burden is essential, the figures do not automatically translate into worsened epidemiological trends.
