Brasília – The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has ordered the seizure of counterfeit batches of the diabetes medicine Rybelsus (active ingredient semaglutide) after reports of falsified units circulating in the market. The lots identified — N088499 and P08A472 — presented discrepancies such as incorrect manufacturing location, altered company logo, and inconsistencies in packaging and leaflet design.

In the same decision, Anvisa determined the prohibition of nine unregistered drugs, primarily anabolic steroids, which were being sold and distributed illegally in Brazil. The agency banned their manufacture, commercialization, and use across the country, reinforcing its monitoring of irregular products that pose risks to public health.

Anvisa reiterated that health professionals and consumers who identify suspicious medicines should immediately report them through official channels to help prevent counterfeit circulation and ensure market integrity.
