Brasília – Rodolfo Chung, CEO of Memed, affirmed in a recent interview that digital prescriptions will soon become the norm in Brazil, driven by efficiency, security and regulatory momentum.

Chung pointed out that the development is less about technological limitations and more about overcoming cultural and structural barriers in the healthcare system. Specialties such as dermatology, psychiatry, endocrinology and rheumatology are leading the shift, in part because they require frequent and complex prescriptions which benefit from digital platforms.

He noted that although Brazil trails some countries in adoption, the turning point is near: “In a few years the majority of prescriptions in Brazil should be digital.” The company processes millions of digital prescriptions monthly and works with tens of thousands of pharmacies nationwide.
