Brasília – The Ministry of Health has launched a nationwide campaign titled “Don’t give dengue, Zika and chikungunya a chance” to reinforce prevention and control of arboviruses transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. According to O Globo, about 30% of Brazilian municipalities remain on alert for arbovirus outbreaks, even after a 75% drop in probable dengue cases compared to 2024.

The initiative calls on local governments and the public to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and strengthen surveillance efforts. The Ministry also announced an investment of R$ 183.5 million for the 2025–2026 cycle, focused on innovative technologies such as the Wolbachia method, sterile-insect techniques and larvicide-dispensing stations.
