Brasília – The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) has recommended that the National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS) revise parts of its new health plan pricing and adjustment policy, under discussion since April. The technical note urges the agency to strengthen consumer protection and prevent unfair practices in the supplementary health market.

The MPF proposes prohibiting the unilateral termination of collective plans with up to 1,000 beneficiaries and criticizes the extraordinary adjustment mechanism for individual plans, calling for clearer criteria for price revisions. The note also suggests broadening the risk pool threshold to include contracts with up to 1,000 lives, as originally proposed by the ANS.

The agency’s board will now review the final version of the policy following the second round of public consultation, which closed in October.
