Brasília – The Instituto Butantan announced that it has already produced more than 1 million doses of its dengue vaccine, which now awaits approval from the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa). The immunizer, developed with national technology, represents one of the main strategies of the Ministry of Health to contain dengue outbreaks in 2026.

The vaccine is a single-dose tetravalent formulation designed to protect against the four dengue virus serotypes. Once approved, it will make Brazil one of the first countries to introduce a domestically produced dengue vaccine on a large scale, expanding access and reducing dependence on imported products.

Butantan stated that its production capacity will increase in the coming months, allowing the supply of millions of doses to the national immunization program as soon as regulatory approval is granted.
