Brasília – The theme of Brazil’s 2025 National High School Exam (Enem) — “Perspectives on aging in Brazilian society” — reflects a growing public-health challenge as the country rapidly ages. According to data cited by the Associação Médica Brasileira (AMB), the shift in population profile is already reshaping Brazil’s disease map, with significant increases in cancer, stroke, hypertension, and neurodegenerative conditions among older adults.
Experts warn that the country’s health-care system, historically focused on a younger demographic, must adapt quickly by training more geriatric specialists, expanding long-term care infrastructure, and strengthening networks for chronic-disease management
