Brasília – The National Congress is illuminated in blue from Wednesday through Sunday in support of “Novembro Azul,” Brazil’s annual campaign promoting awareness, prevention, and early diagnosis of prostate cancer. The initiative follows global movements inspired by campaigns launched in Australia in 2003 and mirrors the visibility strategy used in “Pink October” for breast cancer awareness.
According to the Brazilian Society of Urology, prostate cancer is the country’s second most common malignancy among men, behind only skin cancer. More than 17,000 deaths were recorded in 2023, and for 2025, the National Cancer Institute projects 71,700 new cases. Health authorities emphasize that early detection is critical: when diagnosed and treated at initial stages, cure rates can reach 90%.
