Brasília – The Health Ministry (MS) has signed a technical cooperation agreement formalizing the development of the country’s first “intelligent hospital” within the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). The project will be headquartered at Hospital das Clínicas da Universidade de São Paulo (HC-USP) and incorporates artificial intelligence, integrated information systems and precision-medicine tools aimed at high-complexity emergency care.
According to the agreement, the initiative complements a national network of high-precision services under the “Agora Tem Especialistas” programme, including 14 ultra-intensive care units (UTIs) across Brazil’s five regions and modernisation of selected centres of excellence in the Rio de Janeiro and Federal District regions. The total estimated investment is approximately R$ 1.7 billion, to be supported via financing by the Banco do BRICS.
