Brasília – Brazil’s Ministry of Health announced Monday (24) a broad package to strengthen the Health Economic-Industrial Complex (CEIS) during the GECEIS plenary, formalizing agreements with Anvisa, OPAS, MDIC, INPI, Abifina, EBSERH and Sebrae. The agendas included the adoption of artificial intelligence for regulatory analysis, support for startups, creation of binational regulatory committees and significant investments in equipment, ambulances and mobile units for the SUS. The ministry also confirmed the use of debentures for strategic health production and highlighted advances in digital health through “Meu SUS Digital” and new innovation labs.

The Ministry also presented the final results of the new Productive Development Partnerships (PDPs), covering strategic medicines and vaccines for the SUS and involving multiple state laboratories. Bahiafarma was selected to develop bevacizumab, eculizumab, nivolumab, pertuzumab and aflibercept; FUNED was assigned lenalidomide; FURP received projects for pazopanib, dasatinib, lamivudine + dolutegravir, tafamidis meglumine and bevacizumab; Butantan will produce pembrolizumab and the Covid-19 mRNA-1273 vaccine; Lafepe will manufacture tofacitinib citrate, sitagliptin phosphate monohydrate, lamivudine + dolutegravir and sirolimus; LAQFA will develop dolutegravir + lamivudine, nilotinib and sunitinib; LFM will work on maraviroc and voriconazole; and TECPAR will produce the human rabies vaccine and the attenuated varicella vaccine. According to the ministry, PDP-related investments total approximately R$ 5 billion, reinforcing national production of high-cost and high-complexity technologies.
