Brasília – The Ministry of Health and other federal authorities approved a National Policy designed to reinforce medical and multiprofessional health residencies throughout Brazil. The measure aims to expand training capacity, improve professional qualification and ensure broader distribution of health professionals, especially in underserved regions.

Under the new policy, incentives and funding mechanisms will support creation and maintenance of residency positions in public hospitals and teaching institutions. The initiative is expected to boost the workforce available to the SUS, enhance the quality of care and strengthen the health-system’s capacity to respond to complex demands.
