Brasília – Medical associations urge Anvisa to immediately ban the production and sale of unregistered weight-loss injection pens by compounding pharmacies, following a police investigation that exposed large-scale illegal manufacturing. The entities warn of “imminent sanitary risk” due to absence of regulatory oversight, inadequate storage conditions, and the possibility of incorrect dosages that may lead to serious adverse events.

The request is endorsed by the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism, the Brazilian Association for the Study of Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome, the Brazilian Diabetes Society, Febrasgo, and the Brazilian Medical Association. Anvisa recalls that the commercialization and importation of non-registered weight-loss pens are already prohibited in Brazil, including products such as T.G.5, Lipoless, and similar formulations.
