Brasília – The Ministry of Health announced measures to reinforce the National Policy for Cardiovascular Care, aiming to reduce the burden of heart disease through expanded prevention, early diagnosis and integrated care across all levels of the Unified Health System (SUS). The initiative includes updated clinical protocols, increased training for health professionals and strengthened coordination between primary care, specialized services and emergency response networks.

Officials highlighted that cardiovascular diseases remain among the leading causes of death in Brazil, and that the enhanced policy will focus on promoting healthy lifestyles, improving access to essential medications and optimizing care pathways for patients with risk factors or established disease. The strengthened policy is part of broader government efforts to address noncommunicable diseases and improve chronic disease outcomes nationwide.
