Brasília – Brazil and the United Kingdom signed a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening policies for health technology assessment and the incorporation of new technologies into the Unified Health System (SUS). The Letter of Intent, formalized on December 9, 2025, in London, was signed by the National Committee for Health Technology Incorporation (Conitec) and the United Kingdom’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), recognizing both countries as strategic partners in public health.
The agreement focuses on enhancing the quality and transparency of health technology evaluation processes, expanding negotiation strategies for pricing innovative treatments, and integrating artificial intelligence and digital health tools into assessment frameworks. Officials underscored that the partnership aims to reduce risks for patients and public budgets, promote evidence-based decision-making, and strengthen technical capacities for sustainable technology incorporation in Brazil’s health system.
