Brasília – The Federal Senate passed a bill establishing new protections and support mechanisms for individuals with type 1 diabetes, aiming to improve access to treatment, expand diagnostic capacity and reinforce patient rights within the health system. The proposal includes provisions for guaranteed access to essential supplies, structured care pathways and expanded public policies focused on early diagnosis, therapeutic monitoring and long-term disease management.

Senators highlighted the importance of updating national diabetes policies to reflect technological advances and the increasing prevalence of the condition among children, adolescents and young adults. The approved measures now proceed to further legislative steps and are expected to strengthen integration between primary care, specialized services and educational initiatives to improve quality of life for patients.
